James Webb Telescope Launch

The UCLA Planetarium has joined almost 500 sites across the country as part of NASA's Webb Community Events to celebrate the launch of the James Webb Space Telescope, NASA’s next great space science observatory.

This special event is currently planned to be held in-person in our planetarium dome on December 1st at 7pm and will include a presentation on the exciting science to expect from Webb (featuring the work of UCLA astronomers!), as well as a night-sky show using our star projector and a telescope viewing after the show. There will also be lots of free giveaways featuring JWST, courtesy of NASA's outreach programs!

The UCLA Planetarium is located on the 8th floor of the Math Sciences building on UCLA’s campus, and proof of vaccination/a negative COVID test within 72 hours/your UCLA symptom monitoring survey is required in line with LA County and UCLA COVID protocols. Masks are required at all times during the event. Seating is first come, first served.
