Profesor Ian McLean is selected for the 2017 Joseph Weber Award
It is a great pleasure to announce that Professor Ian McLean has been selected for the Joseph Weber Award by the American Astronomical Society. The award is given "to an individual, of any nationality, for the design, invention or significant improvement of instrumentation leading to advances in astronomy."
Ian's citation reads: “In recognition of over 30 years at the forefront of the development of advanced infrared sensor arrays and for his leadership in the design, construction, and deployment of innovative infrared instruments that have had widespread and fundamental scientific impact across a broad community.”
This is well deserved recognition for his pioneering work with infrared arrays and a career of developing world class instruments. The award will be given out in one year at the 2018 Winter AAS meeting.
